The core idea

Reinvestment beats hoarding, every time

Nearly every strong Planet Clicker strategy is a variation on the same idea: keep your Mass working. A generator sitting unbought is growth you are choosing not to have. Everything below builds on that one habit.

  • 01

    Never let Mass sit idle

Unspent Mass produces nothing. Unless you are one purchase away from something specific, buy the cheapest generator or upgrade available the moment you can afford it. Reinvesting immediately compounds faster than saving up for a single big purchase.

  • 02

    Front-load cheap generators

Dust Collectors and Comets look tiny, but the first several units of any generator are always the best value in the game — each purchase raises that generator's price by only about 15%, so early units stay cheap relative to their lifetime output.

  • 03

    Grab click upgrades early

When your generators are still small, most of your Mass comes from tapping. Click upgrades like Padded Gloves and Hand Drill pay for themselves fast in the opening minutes, before production takes over.

  • 04

Prioritize catalysts the instant they are affordable

Production upgrades — Stellar Catalyst, Quantum Catalyst, and beyond — double the output of every generator you already own, including ones you buy afterward. Delaying one costs more the longer you wait, so treat it as a top priority the moment you can afford it.

  • 05

Use Buy Max once you have surplus Mass

Switch the shop to Buy Max when you have more Mass than a single generator costs. It is the fastest way to convert a stockpile into several units at once without manually clicking Buy repeatedly.

  • 06

    Keep the tab open

Generators only produce while the game is open in your browser — there is no offline progress. If you want steady growth, leave the tab open rather than closing it between checks.

By phase

How priorities shift as your planet grows

The reinvest-everything habit applies throughout, but what is worth buying changes with scale. Full stage details are on the stages page.

  • Early game (Space Dust → Planet)

Alternate between a couple of cheap generators and the first two click upgrades. Every purchase should feel immediately affordable — you are optimizing for momentum, not for a single perfect buy.

  • Mid game (Gas Giant → Star)

Generators start carrying most of your growth. This is where Stellar and Quantum Catalyst become the highest-value purchases on the board — each one doubles everything at once.

  • Late game (Neutron Star → Galaxy)

Costs climb steeply, so favor whichever generator or upgrade gives the best output-per-Mass-spent, not just the newest one unlocked. Dark Matter and Void Catalyst are worth saving for specifically once nothing cheaper is left to buy.
